Vital Signs: All Syrah, from the single vineyard lieu dit Geynaleparcel in the Reynard sector planted by Vincent’s great grandfather. Some vines here are pre-phyloxera, over 100 years old. 100% whole cluster fermented, tiny yields around 22hl/ha.
Uncle Bill's Take: This is as good as Cornas gets. The best wine-growing areas of Cornas are located to the west and particularly the north-west of the village. Here the sun-baked slopes are protected from the cold north winds that move down the valley. Cornas is an old Celtic dialect term for "burnt land", similar to the "roasted slope" of Côte Rôtie.
