Vital Signs: Malbec from a legendary six-acre estate vineyard in Chacras de Coria planted in 1916. The vineyard sits at an elevation of 3,000 feet above sea-level. The fruit is hand-picked and fermented with native yeast before it is aged two years in a mix of French oak of different ages, and then another year in bottle. A mere fifty cases come stateside each year.
Uncle Bill's Take: This vineyard goes back three generations within the same family with winemaking overseen by famed Argentine winemaker Carmello Patti. It is worthy of the finest the Old World has to offer but coupled with a bright exuberance all its own. Our trusty Potomac rep Geoffrey calls it "the best Malbec I've ever tasted." Who are we to argue with him?!
