Vital Signs: Lahoma Vineyard is located on the southwest corner of Seneca Lake. Amongst its rolling hills, one knoll planted to Riesling stands above the rest. With more sun exposure and better drainage than the vines surrounding it, The Knoll has always produced Riesling with distinct concentration and ripeness. This offering sees a pre-fermentation cold soak followed by native fermentation accentuates inherent aspects of body and intensity.
Uncle Bill's Take: This is a glimpse at the future of Riesling in the Finger Lakes. Having established its primacy, the grape needs only to reach for greatness. Confident that they can make good Riesling, the region's best producers are looking for the truly special sites that are capable of greatness. The Knoll is one of those rare places, and this is one of those wines.
